#5 Start listening to more podcasts and audiobooks.
I used to be a big reader. Ever since I was a kid I’ve been addicted to books. But the last few years I’ve had difficulty making time for reading. And part of it is that when I finally have some downtime from wife and mother duties, my brain is too tired- I don’t feel like thinking! Lately I’ve been craving books. I’ve been hungry to expand my brain and think about things outside of the deep life lessons of Daniel Tiger. So one of my goals for this year is to make more time for podcasts and audiobooks. They are the perfect solution for me because I don’t feel guilty listening to a podcast while I wash dishes or cook dinner.
Here are some of the podcasts and audiobooks I’m listening to (I’ll continue adding to the list this year, so keep checking in with me!):
The last few weeks I’ve been listening to “The Happy Hour With Jamie Ivey”. I love it! Basically, it’s recorded sessions of Jamie having what feels like coffee dates with her best girl friends. So many great women on this show from all different walks of life! I especially enjoyed Jamie’s interview with Danielle Walker from Against All Grain. I’ve followed her blog for a long time and am a huge fan of her recipes. Had no idea her story and was so inspired listening to her talk about her family, their journey, and her faith. I’ve also learned about so many different ministries, organizations, musicians… I love this podcast.
Just started listening to this podcast and I’m really enjoying it and learning a lot. The podcast is hosted by Jeff and Mandy Rose. These two talk about REAL life stuff in marriage. Nothing sugar coated here. Raw and authentic. It’s really refreshing and challenging. Their passion is to encourage couples to live in love intentionally. I’m looking forward to listening to more of The Rose’s episodes.
Vacation Mavens is a family travel podcast offering destination guides, family travel tips, and ideas for parenting on the go. Two moms, who are also travel bloggers, share all their tips and experiences. I like thier podcasts because they’re real women who address practical situations and issues. I like their episode on Jet Lag Survival Tips which covered all things related to jet lag and little ones. I actually wish I would have found this podcast sooner- good stuff here!
