#32 Get a pedicure from a “fish spa”.
Ok, I’m going to start this by saying that yes… it’s pretty weird. And I’m not sure what it says about me that I’ve always wanted to get a fish pedicure- maybe I’ve got issues or something? But regardless, I did it. I experienced a fish pedicure in all of it’s bizarre glory. And, I was really glad to share the experience with my mom and cousin who were visiting us. It would not have been near as much fun if I had gone alone!
What is a fish pedicure? Well, it’s like a regular pedicure…. except it’s not. We went to Euphoria Fish Spa on James Gichuru Rd. The experience started with having my feet washed and inspected to make sure there were no open cuts. I was then led to a comfy chair connected to a giant tank filled with fresh water (it was a little chilly!) and lots of small fish. The tiny fish are called “doctor fish”. They immediately flocked to my feet and began nibbling and sucking away at all of the dead skin and callouses. Eww! Yes, it tickled a LOT. I couldn’t help but squeal more than a few times because it was such a foreign feeling. I’ve read that many people get used to it after a few minutes and find it to be relaxing. Can’t say that was the case for me! It tickled the entire time and I did not get used to it! Neither did my company. We basically laughed at each other the entire time. After 30 minutes of letting the fish do their thing, your pedicure continues like any other “regular” pedicure. Totally bizarre experience but one I will always look back on with a good laugh 🙂
